Music written by Americans, or written in America, makes up the program for this Thanksgiving holiday weekend. There are iconic pieces from 20th century figures Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin, all of them from the theatrical traditions of dance, opera and musical theater. There’s also a beloved symphonic evocation of the “New World” from a European visiting our land.
