Two concerts from the Triad Area of North Carolina are the source for the selections on this edition of the program. In Winston-Salem principal bassoonist Saxton Rose steps forward to solo in Mozart’s famous concerto, then treats the audience for an encore from a French Baroque master before the concert wraps up with one of Mozart’s later symphonies. Over in nearby Greensboro the orchestra performs Spanish favorites from Albeniz in transcriptions by Rodion Schedrin, and soloist Yevgeny Kutik dazzles with showpieces by Saint-Saens and Pablo de Sarasate.
